About Great Weird Outdoors

Out here, the trails twist through legends, the trees whisper old truths, and something strange always lurks beyond the next ridge.

The Great Weird Outdoors lets to explore the mysteries hidden in America’s wild places: forgotten folklore, lost treasure, eerie encounters, unsolved disappearances, and the thin places where the world feels… different.

This is more than a blog—it’s a campfire circle for wanderers, misfits, and seekers of the strange. You’ll find stories, field reports, maps, journal entries, and dispatches from deep in the woods, along with my original books, gear, and ongoing adventures.

So grab your pack. Keep your compass steady. And remember—just because it sounds impossible, doesn’t mean it ain’t true.

I work in the outdoors industry as a Recreation Manager for the US Forest Service. I’ve been doing it for 21 years and have many stories of weird outdoor phenomena.I love all things spooky and all things outdoors. This is my way to share weird outdoor legends, lore, and more. I did my first presentation on ghost of the south when I was in 4 grade, using a slide projector! The first two books I read as a little kid was Tom Sawyer and Pet Cemetery. I am also an author and will be posting my stories and books, as | write them. I will also post about my outdoor adventures. I have a podcast in the works. And lastly, please share your spooky outdoor stories, legends, lore or whatever and i'll post it on this website and possible use it in my podcast. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastically spooky and weird day!
